MAP1S (Microtubule Associated Protein 1 S) is the shorter member of the MAP1 family of microtubule binding proteins. MAP1S gets cleaved post-translationally into heavy and light chains can regulate microtubule stability and dynamics. CDKL5 phosphorylates MAP1S at two residues on its light chain’s microtubule binding domain: S786 and S8122. MAP1S pSer812 antibody recognizes this phosphorylation specifically as MAP1S Ser812A phosphomutant is not recognized by pSer812 antibody. This phosphorylation site is conserved in human MAP1S S900.
