Death receptors are the members of the TNF receptors that contain a death domain (TRAIL receptors, Fas, TNF-R1 ...). Among others, their main role is to activate caspases-involving pathways, which then leads to apoptosis. Death domain-containing proteins such as FADD and TRADD are the main adaptor proteins of these receptors to activate caspase-mediated apoptosis.
